- I found a fast way to find these files scattered throughout the folder is to click the Type field, and most if not all of the files you need to delete

Reply Moses says: February 20, 2015 at 2:54 am Only the Pc setting app worked the rest still flash and show in the task bar Reply ldswat says: February 20, 2015 https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/ouc1too/2014/07/22/windows-8-1-store-apps-wont-open-or-close-immediately-when-logged-on-as-a-domain-user-make-it-stop/ I don't call that a fix.
Type "GPRESULT /?" for usage. It appears to eliminate the issues with apps encountered in Windows 8. Now my kids can play their games again 🙂 Reply Spiro says: December 12, 2014 at 8:10 am Now…next… Block Windows Update "for a month" my IT Guru John says… Microsoft I've also done sfc /scannow and it found nothing wrong.
Changing permissions as described above is tricky: it needs explorer.exe to be launched As Administrator. Pretty lame Microsoft adopted apps if you ask me. Anything else to suggest? Reply Lissfirefly says: December 31, 2014 at 9:28 pm All of my settings were already matching this, and my machine doesn't have HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINEDrivers Reply Melissa says: January 2, 2015 at 6:31
I've refreshed my Windows 8, didn't fix it. A System Restore fixed it for me. I feel cheated and ripped off, but considering the problems I have had with Microsoft over the years I'm not really surprised. None of the apps work including the ‘store".
I've checked the permissions (followed the above). They are listed in the recommended troubleshooting order, starting from very basic to slightly more complicated and in depth. Reply Aaron Couch May 26, 2015 at 5:53 pm That's great, Dennis! Had to add the "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT in the registry and give it "read" permissions.
Reply paul says: January 15, 2015 at 6:19 pm I wrote last week that one should install the latest update (3,6GB) for Windows 8.1 which solved all my App problems. thanks Reply Jason says: May 31, 2015 at 3:20 am I don't have "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" in the KEY_CLASS_ROOT, i have it inside USER. then all of a sudden my store open.
A Last Resort… If you have tried everything above and still can't get your apps to open properly, then I suggest creating a new user account on your computer. I tested this on
Reply DennisDrWho says: December 20, 2014 at 11:38 pm I tried some of the stuff above to no avail. wow!!!! the default things that it fixes is all you need …. I've refreshed my Windo.ws 8, didn't fix it.
Is Windows 8.1 Done After This Unspectacular August Update? Reply nhyira says: January 10, 2015 at 3:45 am didnt work here……… extra help wil be apprecitated Reply Atul says: January 10, 2015 at 12:02 pm Just added All Admistrative pacage So I'm not suggesting reinstalling Windows is the solution for a buggy Windows update - obviously that wouldn't make sense because the update would get installed again, causing the exact same Now try downloading a new app or opening an existing app.
